Rock Legends
25 - 29 May 2010
preview: Tuesday 25 May, 5 - 7 pm

All works are limited edition and available for purchase in a range of sizes. Prices start at $500.

Gow Langsford Gallery presents Rock Legends a series of images of heroes of the music world by photographer Bruce Jarvis.

Jarvis began his career as a newspaper photographer in the 1970s and has emerged as one of the most prolific rock concert photographers of his generation working in New Zealand. His iconic works have been published as widely as the front page of the London Evening Standard (1973).

The series of limited edition prints includes classic onstage images of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, guitar god Eric Clapton, Joan Armatrading, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan, caught in the act of presenting a flower to a front row admirer. His collection of photographs of rock stars in New Zealand is unparalleled and the exhibition provides a unique insight into New Zealand's music history.

Rock Legends precedes the publication of Jarvis' book which will be launched later this year and celebrates 50 years of New Zealand concerts and the photographers who captured them.

Rock Legends is the first in 3 x 1, a project series of photographic exhibitions at Gow Langsford Gallery and runs for five days only.

For more information on the exhibition, including available work please contact Anna Jackson at the gallery.
