04. 12. 2008 I Aiko Groot interactive kinetic sculpture in Hutt Valley
A kinetic sculpture by Aiko Groot was unveiled recently at the Pelorus Trust Sports House in the Hutt Valley. The Pelorus Trust commissioned the Hutt Sculpture Trust to produce a major public artwork for the precinct surrounding the Sports House, and Waiheke Island based Groot responded with Cube⁴. The towering sculpture can be manipulated by viewers using crank handles set into the base of the concrete plinth. The sculpture reacts gently to a single handle being turned, or can be made to dance by using all four cranks at once.
